What's truly amazing about this speech is that it was produced in 1940. Before the Civil Rights Movement had to happen, before Martin Luther King was assassinated. Before the dismantling of the Berlin Wall, before the end of Apartheid. Before the Internet and before the end of World War 2 and the nuclear holocaust. If only we learned then to listen, rather than to only hear and be entertained. If only we could empathize, rather than just sympathize--We would be so much more..
