Starquakes inside stars resonate and cause the light they emit to flicker. These frequencies have been detected by the Kepler Space Telescope and interpreted by scientists working with Nasa.
Researchers at the University of Birmingham have taken one month of data from a star called KIC 11026764, nicknamed "Gemma", and filtered it to remove noise outside the range of the star's strongest "tones".
"Gemma" is approximately 534 light years away - 3,100,000 billion miles - but is still part of our galaxy. Click here to listen sound made by Star
